Simon Boag PhD

I am an Associate Professor in Psychology at Macquarie University and I conduct research in the field of personality psychology and psychodynamic theory. I am particularly interested in defense mechanisms, unconscious mental processes, dreams, and the the science and philosophy of psychoanalysis. My research also involves understanding what is meant by ‘self’ and ‘identity’, the relation of the ‘person’ to biological processes, and theories underlying neuropsychoanalysis. I also enjoy looking at the history of personality research and of psychology generally.
